DESU makes three shunt families. Depus has a polysulfone valve with a ruby ball and titanium spring, in fixed and adjustable pressures, in VP and LP kits; Defit is a flat-bottom silicone valve and Decurve a burr-hole silicone valve, both fixed-pressure and free of metal. Catheters come standard or antibiotic-impregnated, with controlled release over 28 days.
The line-up
Three valve families for different surgical approaches and follow-up needs, and the catheter kits that complete them. Orange catheters are antibiotic-impregnated; the others are standard silicone.
Depus ShuntsPolysulfone-valve shunt family with a ruby ball and titanium spring mechanism: low, medium and high fixed pressures and adjustable options, in VP and LP kits.
Defit ShuntsFixed-pressure, flat-bottom silicone shunt in Ultra Small, Small and Regular sizes, with low, medium and high pressure options. Contains no metal and is compatible with MRI and CT.
Decurve ShuntsFixed-pressure, burr-hole silicone shunt in paediatric and adult valve sizes, with low, medium and high pressure options. Has a reservoir and contains no metal.
Ventriculoperitoneal Catheter KitVentricular and peritoneal silicone catheters in one kit, with tantalum length marks. Standard, or antibiotic-impregnated with 28-day controlled release.

What is the difference between Depus, Defit and Decurve?
Depus has a polysulfone valve with a ruby ball and titanium spring, in fixed low, medium and high pressures and adjustable options, in VP and LP kits. Defit is a fixed-pressure, flat-bottom silicone valve in three sizes; Decurve is a fixed-pressure, burr-hole silicone valve with a reservoir. Defit and Decurve contain no metal.
How is the adjustable Depus valve set?
With the Depus Adjustment Kit: the tools to locate the valve, read its pressure and set it, in 3 Pressure and 5 Pressure versions, supplied in a non-sterile, reusable case. The full kit contents are on its product page.
Are antibiotic-impregnated catheters available?
Yes. Ventricular, peritoneal and lumbar catheters are offered standard or antibiotic-impregnated. The impregnated catheters are orange and release the agent in a controlled way over 28 days.
