What is an EVD set?
An EVD (external ventricular drainage) set drains cerebrospinal fluid from the brain's ventricles to a collection system outside the body, and lets the team set the drainage level and read CSF pressure. A DESU EVD set brings the catheter, a 30 cm measuring scale, a 150 ml drip chamber and an 800 ml drainage bag together in one system.

What does the EVD-010 set include?
A ventricular catheter of 1.5 mm inner and 3.0 mm outer diameter and 31 cm length, a 60 cm reinforced connection line with a locking mechanism, a 30 cm measuring scale in mmHg and cmH₂O, a 150 ml drip chamber, an 800 ml air-filtered drainage bag, two three-way connectors and a hydrophobic filter.
What is the difference between EVD-010 and EVD-020?
EVD-010 comes with its own 31 cm ventricular catheter. EVD-020 uses the same drainage system with a choice of a ventricular or a lumbar catheter, so one system serves both routes.
Is an antibiotic-impregnated EVD catheter available?
Yes. Both series are offered with a standard or an antibiotic-impregnated catheter. In the impregnated catheter the antibiotic is impregnated into the material and released in a controlled manner over 28 days.
Can the set be used for lumbar drainage?
Yes, EVD-020 is available with a lumbar catheter. DESU also makes a lumbar drainage catheter kit with an 80 cm silicone catheter, Tuohy needle, guidewire and Luer Lock connector.
In which units is the pressure read?
The 30 cm measuring scale supports tracking CSF pressure in both mmHg and cmH₂O.
Who manufactures these products?
